I was caught off guard with a feeling of sudden coldness on my palm. It wasn’t in the forecast, was it? I didn’t even bring my umbrella. I thought to myself.

Although It was unexpected, I’ve always been a pluviophile. Ah, big word man.

The sky was grey, It was that darker shade of grey with earthy smell going around. If I remember correctly It’s been awhile since we had rain. I wasn’t in a hurry to get up from the bench I was sitting on.

Take it in, I said to myself.

When I’m all soaked in rain, I was no longer myself, I was one with rain.

I looked around to see what’s going on. I was expecting people looking at me and thinking what kind of a weirdo this is but that was not the case. No one was around. Well, except for this girl.

I stopped snooping around to stare at her.

Raindrops mixed with her eyeliner are racing down her rosy cheeks. I was betting on one drop to win the race as it drops down to her chest soon after. When I looked back up, she was looking at me.

Hi, she said.

Oh, hello. It’s raining isn’t it? I asked nervously.

She burst into laughter. I was caught off guard twice in the same day. This time, It’s her smile. I waited till she got over my nervous question earlier.

I’m sorry, It’s okay. And yes, It’s raining. She answered.

Yeah, that was a dumb question. Love rain? I asked.

I don’t love rain, I love rain today. It doesn’t make sense, I know. But I wanted it to rain today. She told me.

I noticed her headband slowly slipping off of her hair.

Well, I believe there’s an explanation for that. Not that I ask you to share. But, I hope rain helps. Otherwise if you get sick, this will all be for nothing. And you don’t want that. I told her.

Ah, I wouldn’t mind getting sick actually. I could use a break. She sighed. Well, in that case, You’ve come to the right place. I told her as I took my eyes off of her. She was there to be alone and who am I to disturb her.

Hey, thank you for not intruding. I appreciate it. She told me as she smiled back at me.

You’re welcome. I closed my eyes and drifted off to my own world. I love rain, I love it so much.
