Walls
Leaving a damaging relationship does not end the fear it taught you to carry.
Do you know what’s not fair? It’s when you leave a bad relationship and you are the one who’s left suffering. Trying not to feel anymore, trying to walk on eggshells around emotions because they’ve become so fragile that you don’t feel like you can entrust someone with them.
And then, you’ll put up countless walls because of different reasons. These walls will have different traumas and in the middle of those walls you will rest on a pedestal waiting for someone to approach you to tell you that things will be okay again.
But, as much as that’s what You want, for someone to come to you and tell you that everything will be alright, You will not allow them to enter that easily. The walls you’ll put will remain the same no matter how pure the intentions of the person who approaches them.
So, how is it fair that you are the one who’s suffering because someone else decided to hurt you? And even when they’ve moved on towards others, You’ll just stay there trying to fix something that shouldn’t have been broken in the first place.
But, these walls will fall eventually for the right one. As they approach You feel, Actually you won’t feel the walls disappearing. You’ll eventually notice that you are not alone on the pedestal anymore. As long as you’re comfortable with the person who you share the pedestal with, the walls won’t matter. Because, If it’s the right person, they will always be there beside you. It won’t be sudden but the best part of it is that you won’t notice it.
